Though the Mariah Windspire Company is defunct, the design has been taken up by another company. Doing business as Windspire Energy, the new company backed by Wisconsin’s Ark Alloy LLC has revisited the design and introduced a series of models based on the Windspire concept.
Windspire Energy notes on its web site that it acquired the assets of Mariah Windspire in the fall of 2012. Since then they’ve redesigned the turbine to improve its reliability.
Windspire Energy’s web site continues to promote questionable architectural uses of the turbine, such as mounting the turbine on rooftops and on high-rise buildings. For more on poor siting of vertical-axis wind turbines, see LEED Leads to Bad Wind.
