Since Japan implemented its Feed-in Tariff program, the country has installed 12,600 MW of new renewable capacity–more than 90% of that solar PV.
Better yet, the Japanese are not just installing capacity, they’re generating significant quantities of electricity. Since 2012, when the FIT went into effect, Japan has generated 36 TWh of electricity from new renewables.
Japan’s success once again demonstrates the power of feed-in tariffs to get the job done.
