Doors of the Enrique V. Iglesias Auditorium

While attending the 2017 Distributed Wind Energy Association conference at the Marriott in Washington, DC I strolled up the street to the Museum of Women in the Arts. On the way back I stopped in my tracks to admire the screened curtain wall and doors at the Enrique V. Iglesias Auditorium, part of the Inter-American Development Bank. 1330 New York Ave NW, Washington, DC.

The screen is a collage of images signifying economic development, including two prominent modern wind turbines. This literally just down the street from the Trump White House. The juxtaposition of Trump, a visceral opponent of wind energy, and these images was striking.

You really can’t escape cultural icons of wind turbines in modern life. And that’s the way it should be.
