“The South Westerlies” – a TV show on Acorn TV. So far it’s one season comprised of 6 episodes, but there may a second season coming. The premise is that a Norwegian wind turbine manufacturer wants to install a 50-turbine wind farm in the waters off the coast of Carrigeen, Ireland. Many of the Carrigeen citizens are opposed. The company has an employee, Kate Ryan, who is from that area of Ireland, and they send her undercover to quietly change the citizens’ minds so they favor the wind farm. The focus of the show is more on relationships than on the wind farm itself, but it’s always there. There are lots of subplots involving the citizens of the town and Kate’s teenage son, who travels to Ireland with her for her secret mission.
