I don’t often comment or link to news about offshore wind projects or technology. There’s plenty of land available for wind energy. In most cases we don’t need to go offshore.
Nevertheless, I’ve been exchanging info with Vaughn Nelson, the founder of Texas’ Alternative Energy Institute, for his new book on wind turbine technology and he said I just had to watch this video.
I did, and he was right. It’s an impressive accomplishment to build the world’s first “floating” offshore wind plant. How well it performs in practice is still to be determined. If successful it opens up new avenues in wind development beyond the continental shelf.
