6 gas engines are now producing green power in Northern France, on four sites in Lens, Lourches, Avion and Divion for a total installed capacity of 9 MW. This electricity production is sold under a 15 years feed in tariff guaranteeing LFDE recurring revenues of €4 million per annum.

France has provisionally set the feed-in tariff for floating offshore wind at €240 per megawatt hour for the country’s first four 24MW installations.

The EC noted that only small installations of less than 500 kW will remain eligible for the “feed-in-tariff” while other installations will receive support in the form of the “top-up payment” system. The EC also took note of monitoring measures sufficient to prevent excessive compensation.

Levelised cost of electricity from wind farms in France stands at EUR 76 per MWh, says a joint study of Pöyry Managing Consultants and French wind industry body France Energie Eolienne published today.

The Commission found that the French scheme promotes the integration of electricity produced by combined heat and power plants into the market, in line with the Guidelines.

Reuters has reported that China Group Nuclear (CGN) will put its investment in Bordeaux-based renewables installer Inovia Concept Development with the aim of installing around 1GW of solar on rooftops across France.

Onshore wind will keep its current feed-in tariff support while offshore projects and photovoltaics (PV) will compete at auctions.

The feed-in tariff for electricity produced by cogeneration installations running on biogas will be raised for both new and existing installations with a ministerial decree.

SolarWorld AG has developed a new roof-integrated PV system for the French market that allows customers to receive France’s maximum feed-in tariff of €27.37 cents/kWh (US$34.64 cents/kWh).

In a rebuff to French anti-wind energy activists, the French government has re-instituted feed-in tariffs for wind energy. The tariffs for new projects were suspended following an EU decision on the way the funds for the French tariffs were collected. The tariffs, differentiated by wind resource intensity, are the same as before.
