For example, in mathematical terms, if over a 20 year period a wind turbine produces 7 million kWh of electricity annually, its construction will consume approximately 3.5 million kilowatt hours — or half a year's production — but only as a one-off cost, while the wind turbine will produce electricity for 20 years or more.
