The bill has set tariff rates for generation of electricity from eight sources available locally including solar, wind and bagasse, which is a fibrous matter that remains after sugarcane or sorghum stalks are crushed to extract their juice and used as a biofuel and coal. This complaint was raised during a meeting between stakeholders to comment on the first draft in November of last year. Stakeholders included the Addis Abeba Chamber of Commerce & Sectoral Association, the Ethiopian Electric & Power Corporation (EPPCo) and experts from GIZ, a German International Corporation as well as the Addis Abeba Institute of Technology (AAIT).
